Intrada is proud to announce the CD release of Christopher Young's horror score to Paramount Pictures' new film, Passenger. Coming on the heels of Young's symphonic, concert-oriented score to The Piper, the composer takes an entirely different approach here. The score has two personalities, as if he composed two entirely separate scores integrated into a single nightmarish journey. One part is St. Christopher, composed for men and boy's chorus, presenting an ethereal, quasi-religious atmosphere. The second part is Passenger, several movements of atmospheric electronic and vocal scoring performed by Young and guitarist Brandon Brown. It's unstable, unreliable, and dissonantly off—the perfect atmosphere to fit the film's narrative.
The CD was produced by Young along with John Jae Lee and Matthew Rosales and mastered by Doug Schwartz at Mulholland Music.
The film is a supernatural horror thriller directed by André Øvredal that follows Tyler and Maddie, a young couple living the “van life” dream across America. Their road trip turns nightmarish after they witness a gruesome highway accident. Soon they realize they didn’t leave the crash site alone: a relentless demonic entity known only as “The Passenger” has attached itself to them, stalking them from town to town and transforming their carefree adventure into a terrifying fight for survival.
