THE FURY (EXPANDED 2CD) (CD)
Composed by: John Williams

MINT- SEALED

A film that would have been scored by the legendary Bernard Herrmann, if not for his untimely passing, Brian DePalma’s 1978 film The Fury instead resulted in one of the scores which added considerably to the growing legend of John Williams. Composed along side Superman: The Movie, The Fury comes from those heady post-Star Wars days when the composer was exhibiting a mastery that was an enormously exciting revelation, particularly for those not familiar with his, also exceptional, earlier work. Star Wars was not the beginning of John Williams, but it was part of a rebirth, if you will. The epic, symphonic and romantic strains of The Fury most definitely rest among the composer’s finest work of a period that had no weak spots. Even when the films themselves didn’t quite live up to those that would come just a couple years later, Williams’ scores for the likes of Jaws 2, 1941, Dracula and The Fury are, to this day, considered among his finest work. For those who know and love the score, as well as for those ready for an astounding discovery, The Fury: The Deluxe Edition is as indispensable a CD as they come. Not only does it present the world premiere release of the original motion picture soundtrack recording of this revered music, the bonus second disc features John Williams’ album re-recording of the score, featuring the London Symphony Orchestra and has been re-mastered for improved sound from its original CD release. This is the ultimate Fury! A 2-CD set presenting the two sides of one of the greatest scores by this film music giant.

Brian De Palma returns to the mind-blowing potential of telekinesis in the follow-up to his 1976 horror hit Carrie. While vacationing with his psychic son Robin (Andrew Stevens) and close associate Childress (John Cassavetes), government agent Peter Sandza (Kirk Douglas) survives a terrorist attack, only to discover that it was staged by Childress so he could kidnap Robin for his own nefarious purposes. With the assistance of another psychic (William Finley) and Hester (Carrie Snodgress), an employee at the Paragon Institute for Psychic Research, Peter discovers a telekinetic Chicago high school girl named Gillian (Amy Irving), who may be able to help him find Robin. Even though they have never met, Gillian can see Robin's memories and experiences telepathically, and she knows that he is in trouble. But Childress knows all about Gillian too, and he is not about to let Peter's paternal quest get in the way of his plans for harnessing their psychic power.
