Four women, Guya, Daniela, Monica and Rosanna, work in the "Guya Valentine Beauty Salon", a modest salon in a working class area of Rome. They all have unhappy and complicated sentimental relationships: Guya is trying to track down Bruno, a hack-playboy; Daniela, married and separated, falls in love with an older lawyer; Monica believes she has found true love in an actor and poet with an uncertain future; Rosanna is head over heels in love with the son of an electrical mechanic, who is in love with a woman senator. However, their greatest problem is how to pay the three hundred million lire in order to save the salon. At present, the only possibility is represented by Doctor Crocchia, an old money lender who is prepared to pay in exchange for Guya’s attentions. At this point, the story takes an unexpected turn...
