The Arcum treble voices choir, founded by Maestro Paolo Lucci in 1973, is one of the great performers of Italian cinema music and beyond. Over the span of its long life it has collaborated with many Italian and International composers, among them Maestro Ennio Morricone who more than once made use of this element by giving it a central role in his soundtracks (Chi l’ha vista morire, Il sorriso del grande tentatore, Assassinio sul ponte, L’eredità Ferramonti, Salò o le 120 giornate di Sodoma, Per amore, Stato Interessante, Holocaust 2000, The Mission…).
Many other artists of this and last century, including Annecchino, Banchieri, Ceccarelli, Chillemi, Churchill, de Masi, Eidelman, Falconieri, Jarre, Minghi, Murzi, Paer, Piccioni, Trovajoli, have collaborated with this wonderful choir. Artistically directed by Paolo Lucci, a living icon in choral music, the institution has offered an amazing lineup of programs and concerts featuring names of first rank in the international music landscape, sometimes conducted by musicians of almost mythical status such as Bernstein, Muti, Sinopoli, Frisina, Domingo and many others, not to mention the concerts featured on the TV show on which the choir worked; to list them all we’d need a small book.
I COLORI DEL TEMPO is the result of the concentrated effort to record a selection from the body of work of an important artist in Italian culture, offering the listener a collection of his personal ideas performed by the Arcum white voices choir. The styles represented range from holy music to doggerel and everything in between, following the canon of this musical genre.
This tribute to an industrious artist and his contribution to the choral music world and Italian cinema is finally available on this double-CD set mastered by Enrico De Gemini. The CDs are packaged in a jewel case featuring a 20-page booklet designed by Alessio Iannuzzi with exclusive cover artwork painted by Maestro Andrea Clanetti, an Italian artist/painter/illustrator with a Bruxelles atelier.
