BABY THE RAIN MUST FALL (1965) (BLU-RAY)
Starring:  Steve McQueen, Lee Remick, Don Murray, Josephine Hutchinson, Paul Fix, Ruth White, Glenn Campbell
Directed By:  Robert Mulligan
Composed By:  Elmer Bernstein

“Outstanding performances by its stars and an emotional punch that lingers. Steve McQueen is exactly right as irresponsible rockabilly singer…Lee Remick portrays his wife sensitively.”
– Variety

“Exceptionally well-made…The acting and direction is sensitive and thoughtful, Ernest Laszlo’s black and white cinematography is beautiful, as is Elmer Bernstein’s lovely score.”
– Stuart Galbraith IV, DVDtalk.com

Steve McQueen stars as a rockabilly hopeful, newly paroled from prison, and Lee Remick as his estranged wife in Baby the Rain Must Fall (1965), brought to us by the same triumvirate that translated To Kill a Mockingbird to the screen in 1962: writer Horton Foote, producer Alan J. Pakula, and director Robert Mulligan. A poignant slice of life shot in and around Foote’s Texas hometown, the film is highlighted by a score from the singular Elmer Bernstein and lovely cinematography by the great Ernest Laszlo.

I'm a huge Steve McQueen fan, and was very excited to get this Blu-ray. For some reason I had never seen any of this movie before, at all. Now I know why. This has to be the most depressing movie I have ever seen. Even the performances by the actors were horrible. I couldn't even finish it ! Shut it off about halfway through. Couldn't take anymore ! Like I said, I love Steve McQueen, but this was a huge disappointment all across the board. I hate to be negative, since every movie I've ever bought from Screen Archives has been great (Especially The Blue Max) ! Watch at your own risk ! Hope this helps, thanks.
