To me, comedy is based on a funny way of looking at serious things. My favorite composer, Georges Delerue, fully understood this approach: he put in my films everything that I could not put myself, probably out of modesty. Yet I have long dreamed of telling tragic stories ... but humor or derision almost always caught up with me, hijacked me, held me hostage. Fortunately, my Georges was there to bring me back to gravity. ... "These are the words with which the filmmaker Philippe de Broca defined the lighting of Georges Delerue, his musical double over three decades and seventeen feature films. A high-fidelity collaboration, the most fruitful experienced by the composer, nourished by subjects as different as Cartouche and Le Roi de Coeur, L’Homme de Rio and Chouans !.
