In collaboration with Velvet Film, Music Box Records presents the original motion picture soundtrack of Ernest Cole: Lost & Found, composed by Alexei Aigui (The Truth, The Young Karl Marx). The film is directed by Raoul Peck (I Am Not Your Negro).

Ernest Cole, a South African photographer was the first to expose the horrors of apartheid to a world audience. His book House of Bondage, published in 1967 when he was only 27 years old, led him into exile in NYC and Europe for the rest of his life, never to find his bearings. Raoul Peck recounts his wanderings, his turmoil as an artist and his anger, on a daily basis, at the silence or complicity of the Western world in the face of the horrors of the Apartheid regime. He also recounts how, in 2017, 60,000 negatives of his work were discovered in the safe of a Swedish bank.

Alexei Aigui, long-time Raoul Peck collaborator (Silver Dollar Road, Exterminate All These Brutes), composed an eclectic score, featuring haunting orchestral pieces (piano, strings, solo violin and percussion) and jazz tunes evoking the world of Miles Davis (trumpet, double bass) to emphasize the melancholy tone.

This present edition also features the two other original motion picture soundtracks composed by Alexei Aigui for Raoul Peck's earlier films Murder in Pacot and Moloch Tropical (previously released by Music Box Records in 2014) with some previously unreleased tracks.
