La-La Land Records and Tri-Star Pictures present the official, world premiere CD release of renowned composer Elmer Bernstein’s (THE GRIFTERS, HEAVY METAL, THE AGE OF INNOCENCE) original motion picture score to the acclaimed 1995 big screen ‘40s era mystery thriller DEVIL IN A BLUE DRESS starring Denzel Washington and Jennifer Beals, and directed by Carl Franklin.

In bringing writer Walter Mosley’s famed 1990 novel to cinematic life, director Carl Franklin called on legendary composer Elmer Bernstein to craft a score to help the lead character Ezekiel “Easy” Rawlins navigate his way through a seductive and dangerous post-WWII ‘40s Los Angeles. Elegant and mysterious, brooding and sensuous, Bernstein’s work is as retro-classic as it is contemporary, blending soulful blues and jazz motifs with traditional dramatic scoring. The result is both subtle and powerful and altogether mesmerizing. The previous original CD soundtrack release was song-centric, containing only three original score tracks. Finally, Elmer Bernstein’s score is unleashed in all its brilliance within this expanded score presentation, marking the film’s 30th Anniversary.

Produced by Neil S. Bulk and mastered by Doug Schwartz, this release is limited to 2000 units, features exclusive liner notes by writer Jeff Bond, and is art directed by Dan Goldwasser.
