Max Steiner’s Academy Award-winning score presented for the very first time as a comprehensive original soundtrack recording.
A Brigham Young University Film Music Archive Production. All proceeds from this limited edition compact disc go towards the acquisition, preservation of film music elements and public future releases.
Released by Warner Bros. in 1942, NOW, VOYAGER is the story of a neurotic spinster who undergoes a complete metamorphosis and falls in love on a South American cruise. Max Steiner’s score beautifully accompanies the on-screen romance and melodrama of this classic Bette Davis vehicle. The main theme became a chart-topping hit song, “It Can’t Be Wrong”, and this release includes Steiner’s original demo recording with studio vocalist Vera Van.
The soundtrack was compiled from both studio optical tracks and composer collection acetate discs. While some of the disc material reveal the many times they must have been played in the Steiner home, they have been carefully restored to preserve as much of the inherent fidelity and ambience as possible. The package includes a 24 page book with an introduction by Steiner biographer Steven C. Smith and notes by Ray Faiola, who also restored the score, produced the CD master and designed the entire layout. Produced with the cooperation of Warner Bros. Entertainment.
