17-year-old Ludwig (Jacob Matschenz) is new to the class but is soon considered an outsider. Only Johann (Tino Mewes), who is the same age, becomes his friend. They discover a shared passion for competitive rowing, more specifically for the coxless pair. As a team, however, you have to think and feel the same, or so Ludwig believes. From then on, the two boys spend every free minute together. They share their first sexual experience with the same girl, eat the same meals, wear the same clothes, and both shave their heads. Things couldn't be going better, until Johann falls in love with Ludwig's hated sister, Vera (Sophie Rogall). He initially hides their relationship from Ludwig, fearing that their friendship might suffer. And indeed, something changes. Ludwig's penchant for dangerous activities grows. Furthermore, his binge eating means he can no longer maintain the required weight of 65 kilograms for the coxless pair. As a result, Johann has to go hungry more and more. Their friendship is put to another tough test after Ludwig passes his driving test.
