OCEANUS / PARALLEL MAN (CD)
Composed by: Jeff Rona

Dragon’s Domain Records presents OCEANUS/PARALLEL MAN, featuring music composed by Jeff Rona for two projects from his filmography.

OCEANUS, also known as OCEANUS: ACT ONE, is a short film from 2015, directed by Jeffrey Morris, written by Morris, Kimberly Morris and Christopher Jones, starring Megan Dodds, Sharif Atkins, Bruce Davison and the voice of Malcolm McDowell as Triton.

Beneath the waves of the Pacific Ocean lies the undersea complex of Oceanus, led by Commander Mitch Conrad (Davison). Among the staff is Conrad’s best engineer, Sam Jordan (Atkins), who has entered into a “marriage of convenience” with the career-driven marine biologist Dr. Erin Kendall (Dodds). As the couple prepares to deploy an automated experimental pod, Jordan confesses his frustration to Conrad that his affection for Kendall is not being reciprocated. Upon escorting the pod out to its designated location, a fault develops which requires Jordan to transfer from the AquaShuttle. Once aboard, the two craft are hit by an immense shockwave and separated. Knocked unconscious, Kendall awakens to find the world above suffering a cataclysmic event. Defying Conrad’s order to return, she sets off to search for Jordan...

An animated short film from 2014, PARALLEL MAN was also written and directed by Jeffrey Morris, starring John Cho, Lance Reddick and Ming-Na Wen.

PARALLEL MAN, also known as PARALLEL MAN: INFINITE PURSUIT takes place on Earth in a parallel universe where the Atomic Bomb was not created. Instead, the government of this world, a totalitarian regime called The Ascendancy, has developed the ability to cross over into other Earths with the intention of conquering them. Now, our Earth is next to be annexed unless Nick Morgan (Cho), a rogue agent, can stop them. With help from his A.I. companion Atlas (Reddick), he must outwit pursuit from the dogged Mackenzie Cartwright (Wen) and her Hellfire Commandos. Blindly escaping to other Earths, he travels to one reality where dinosaurs never went extinct and evolved into the dominant life-form, another reality where the Industrial Revolution runs unchecked, poisoning the planet and even an Earth completely choked by a smothering fungal growth.

Jeff Rona is a prolific composer and recording artist whose work spans film, television, video games, and several solo albums. From Los Angeles, he’s acclaimed for scores and solo work that move fluidly between electronics, ambient landscapes, and meticulous orchestral writing with a recognizable style and a strong sense of emotion and storytelling.

His first feature score was for legendary director Ridley Scott’s film WHITE SQUALL. That was followed by a number of successful collaborations with composers Hans Zimmer, Mark Isham and Cliff Martinez on scores for TRAFFIC, GLADIATOR, MISSION IMPOSSIBLE 2, BLACK HAWK DOWN, ROMEO MUST DIE, TOYS, THE FAN, THE THIN RED LINE, YOUNGER AND YOUNGER, THE NET, and many other collaborations.

Jeff’s feature film work include scores or additional music for THE MOTHMAN PROPHESIES, ASSASSINS, SCHIZOPOLIS, THE IN CROWD, A THOUSAND ROADS, URBAN LEGENDS 3, THE QUIET, BOBBY, MEET BILL, WHISPER, HENRY POOLE IS HERE, THE CHOSEN ONE, PHANTOM, BEASTS OF NO NATION, ORPHANS OF EL DORADO (Brazil), VEERAM (India), ZEBRA RIDER (China), and many others.

His prestigious television work includes Barry Levinson’s groundbreaking series HOMICIDE: LIFE ON THE STREET, and continued with HIGH INCIDENT (Steven Spielberg), CHICAGO HOPE (David E Kelly), PROFILER, Stephen King’s THE DEAD ZONE, CLAWS, PERSONS UNKNOWN, TRAFFIC (mini-series), BROTHERHOOD (Showtime), FEAR ITSELF, DOMINION, POWERS and numerous other series, limited series, and TV movies.

Dragon’s Domain Records presents OCEANUS/PARALLEL MAN, featuring music composed by Jeff Rona, appearing for the very first time on compact disc. The music has been mastered by James Nelson at Digital Outland and the liner notes have been written by author David Hirsch, with the participation of director Jeffrey Morris.
